SLOM will support the development of the next edition of the Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG) by encouraging its technical community to participate in the international consultation led by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF).
The guidelines are a key reference for professionals and organizations involved in the design, selection, operation, inspection, and maintenance of mooring systems and equipment.
The next edition is currently under development by a Working Group comprising representatives from OCIMF member companies, sister organizations, industry bodies, and technical experts.
Industry Experience Will Help Shape the New Edition
As part of the revision process, OCIMF has launched a survey to gather practical experience, lessons learned, and perspectives from professionals involved with mooring systems and equipment.
The feedback received will be reviewed by the MEG Working Group and used to support the development of the revised publication.
For SLOM, this consultation provides an opportunity for the experience and expertise of professionals from different countries and operational environments to contribute to guidelines that more accurately reflect the industry’s current needs.
Who Can Participate?
The consultation is open to operators, specialists, manufacturers, suppliers, authorities, representatives from academia, and other professionals with experience in mooring systems and equipment.
The survey takes approximately 20–30 minutes to complete. Respondents may skip any questions that are not relevant to their experience.
Respondents’ names, companies, and email addresses will be collected solely to help the Working Group understand the context of their feedback and, where necessary, request clarification. The information provided will be used exclusively for the MEG revision process and will not be shared outside this process without permission.
